Description
The International Rescue
Committee (IRC), one of the largest humanitarian agencies in the world,
providing relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict reconstruction
support to victims of oppression and violent conflict, in collaboration
with Kibondo District Council, invites applications from suitable
candidates to implement joint reproductive health project at Kibondo
District Hospital.
PROGRAM BACKGROUD:
In July 2016, the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation awarded a two years grant to the IRC to implement a project entitled Healthier Burundian Refugee Women, Adolescent Girls, and Families in Northwestern Tanzania project. The project is designed to improve the health status of women and adolescent girls from Burundi who are living as refugees in Northwestern Tanzania by increasing their access to quality family planning services as part of a sustainable maternal, neonatal, and adolescent reproductive health package in Nyarugusu, and Mtendeli Refugee camps , as well as Kibondo District Hospital. The successful candidates will work at Kibondo District Hospital under Overall supervision of the District Medical Officer (DMO)
a. Under the supervision of the Medical officer in charge and IRC Health Manager, implement the reproductive health program and ensure that program goals, objectives, targets and activities are met, as stated and agreed in the project work plan and log frame.
b. Participating in ensuring and organizing medical activities at the hospital for patients in accordance to the context, MoH protocols and guidelines
c. Supervise, and train medical teams (lower cadres) in the health facility (formal and informal).
d. Provide Care for and treat women during prenatal, natal, and postnatal periods, including family plan services
e. Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
f. Perform cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients' health and deliver babies safely.
g. Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patients.
h. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients
i. Monitor patients' conditions and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary
j. Advise patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
k. Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
l. Perform all other duties assigned by your supervisor relevant to this JD.

- Assistant Medical Officer (AMO)
Duty Station: Kibondo District Hospital
SCOPE/JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Medical Doctor will work hand in hand with the Kibondo District Hospital team to support emergency obstetric and neonatal care, ensuring the implementation of a quality reproductive health program in accordance with the accepted national and international standards. This will include treating patients including performing caesarean section and other surgical procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Assistant Medical Officer or equivalent with strong EmONC background
- At least 3 years of experience in implementing and managing CEmONC programs, preferably in the field environment.
- Clinical experience in Emergency Obstetric Care, PMCT or Clinical Management of Survivors of Sexual Violence is an added advantage
- Strong ability to support and build the capacity of the health team and strengthening of health systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Remains productive when under pressure.
- Demonstrates a systematic and efficient approach to work.
- Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender and backgrounds.
- Ability to work in isolated areas with minimum comfort. Flexible and innovative
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili; Knowledge of Kirundi language is an advantage
